The SRH Berlin Model United Nations (SRHMUN) is a student-led academic conference hosted at SRH Campus Berlin. Participants assume the role of a state or of an individual political figure, analyse the questions before their committee and negotiate collective solutions, following the procedures and conventions of the United Nations.
SRHMUN III, the third edition of the conference, takes place in May 2027 and is the largest to date. Four committees (the General Assembly (DISEC), the Security Council, UN Women and a Crisis Committee) are chaired by students, and the conference is organised by a Highboard and a Secretariat drawn from the SRH student body.
Our Philosophy
SRHMUN gives students the opportunity to study diplomacy, negotiation and the complexity of global problems through practice as well as theory. Delegates do not argue their personal views. They represent the interests and constraints of a state or character, and must seek common ground with others in order to reach a workable agreement.
This discipline of representation is the educational core of Model United Nations. A delegate who must defend a position they do not hold learns to understand the reasoning of others. A delegate who must persuade unfamiliar colleagues to endorse a text learns first to listen. These are skills of analysis, communication and compromise that endure well beyond the conference.
